Incomparable Venice

From Piazzale Roma take water bus no. 1 which will bring you to St. Mark’s Square. On the way you will be able to admire one of Venice’s most beautiful buildings, overlooking the Grand Canal and built by one of Venice’s most important families as a symbol of power and prestige. In St. Mark’s Square you can visit the Basilica of the same name, one of the city’s symbols and then go on a tour of the Ducal Palace, a world heritage site.

The Ducal Palace houses the private residences of the Doge, the institutional rooms, the armoury, the internal courtyards and the famous “Piombi” prisons, which you can access through the notorious Bridge of Sighs. It also houses numerous masterpieces by great Venetian painters including Veronese, Tiziano and Tiepolo. Later you will be able to climb up to the bell tower of St. Mark’s, from where you can enjoy a breath-taking view over the whole city and the lagoon. In St. Mark’s Square we would also like to point out the Clocktower and the Correr Museum.

From the Square then take Calle Larga XXII Marzo which will lead you to the Church of San Moisè, a true example of Venetian baroque. Proceed towards the Frezzeria and the Mercerie, the most exclusive arteries of Venetian shopping. You can also visit the Church of San Salvador, which houses works of art by Bellini, Tiziano and Sansovino. Arrival at Rialto Bridge, another one of the symbols of Venice and return to Piazzale Roma, through the Strada Nuova, another important shopping street.
